This is an invitation for you and your friends to come and take a peek at our studio, ask any questions about courses or projects you're working on, and maybe take part in some taster classes (or just look in on them!). We'll also have a pop-up shop, with makes from some local sewers and some fabric too! Plus discounted prices on a whole range of our courses and products.

Open Call to Local Makers:

If you've ever dreamed of designing and making your own clothes from scratch, one of the vital skills you'll need to learn is pattern cutting. In this 2 hour workshop, led by Costume Designer, Mandy Bryan, we'll be introducing you to the very basic techniques involved, creating a skirt block in a step-by-step demonstration. Students will then run through this worked example themselves using a scaled down version. The idea is that within 2 hours we'll give you the confidence to go home and draft a basic skirt pattern using your own unique measurements, setting you on a journey into designing your own well fitted clothes.

In this 2-hour workshop, led by Patricia Collins, we'll be helping you to get your head around these rather odd looking machines. Topics covered will include threading; setting thread tension; and working with knit and woven fabrics. Students will then share one machine between two, taking it in turns to practice a variety of techniques and create their own samples.
