Making Clothes: Beyond Basic

  • The Stitchery 24 Sandyford Place Glasgow, G37NG United Kingdom (map)

8 Week Course // Tuesdays, 6:30pm-9:30pm // Level: Beyond Basics // Cost: £225 // Instructor: Susie Haigh of Podnip // Pattern Selection Guide

Up your sewing game, broaden your options, and make something new and unique for your wardrobe!

The ideal next step on from Making Clothes for Beginners, this 8-week, in-depth course is designed to reinforce your basic skill set, whilst allowing you to flourish in new areas. Topics include pattern alterations, set-in sleeves, inserting collars, bust adjustments, linings, using an overlocker, and specialty seem finishes. As you learn these techniques, you'll be applying them to your own toile and final garment, chosen from our selection of patterns.

This is a Beyond Basics course, which means that you must have a basic understanding of garment construction and how to use a sewing machine, having made at least one garment before.

Sewing Kits

When you come to book your place online, you'll be given the opportunity to add a Stitchery Sewing Kit to your basket. These are also available to order from our studio or on our Student Resource section at a later date. The kits come with everything you'll need to get sewing, and they only contain high quality tools that we would use ourselves. Plus there's an option to add the Maker's Workbook too.
