About this course
Patchwork Pathways — Block 1 is a 10-week course on traditional patchwork techniques and the fundamentals of quilting. The course is for both beginners and experienced quilters. Each week introduces a different traditional patchwork technique (adapted for your level of experience), allowing learners to gradually build a collection of unique blocks that showcase a variety of classic constructions and patterns. Students will learn how to use essential equipment and haberdashery, explore fabric types and colour choices, and develop accurate measuring and cutting skills.Toward the end of the course, students can choose to assemble their blocks into a personal project—such as a lap quilt, full-size quilt, cushion cover, or tote bag—while being guided through layering, quilting, binding, and hand-finishing techniques. This block provides a solid grounding in traditional patchwork and prepares students confidently for the creative possibilities of the optional Block 2.

“I loved this quilting class! The focus on zero-waste really aligned with my values, and Cass’s blend of modern style with traditional craft was so inspiring. Her patience, clear explanations, and thoughtful pacing made it easy to learn and work at my own speed. What really made it special was the sense of community—I looked forward to each session, not just to sew, but to connect with others who shared the same interests. It was a warm, welcoming environment where friendships naturally formed, and I always left feeling inspired and energised. I can’t recommend her classes highly enough—they’re a beautiful blend of skill-building, sustainability, creativity, and connection.” Student testimonial 2023
