Pattern Selection Guide
Welcome to the Pattern Selection Guide for The Jacket Course at The Stitchery. Before you sign up for the course, you'll need to choose a garment to make. When you come to make your booking online, you'll be given these options to choose from.
Here at The Stitchery we use patterns designed by Colette, Sewaholic, Papercut, Thread Theory, and Oliver & S. If you need any help choosing a pattern, feel free to get in touch.
ROBSON COAT
The Robson Coat features everything you'd hope for on a trench coat, including front and back storm flaps, epaulettes, topstitching, tie belt and sleeve tabs. It's unlined to make it easier to sew, as well as easier to press the finished coat. Front pockets are covered with welts and lie flat against the body. All of the inner seams are bound with bias tape for a clean finish. See more.
ANISE
A multi-season jacket in a classic short length. This double breasted jacket has gentle shaping, a simple rounded collar, and tailored sleeves. The one-piece front makes it easy to incorporate patterns such as plaids or stripes.
Anise can be made with with either full length sleeves (version 1) or below-elbow cropped sleeves (version 2). Learn to create single welt pockets and insert a jacket lining as you sew. See more.
MILANO CAPE
Double breasted cape with six buttons, a flat Peter Pan collar, side single welt pockets and full facings.
This cape could be made out of just about any woven fabric...if you’re making it for winter, a wool coating, or for summer, a cotton or silk, or as a rain cape, a nylon....the options are endless! See more.
GOLDSTREAM PEACOAT
A classic peacoat with modern options, this design is the perfect introduction to menswear tailoring as the detailed instructions will help you create a beautifully finished coat even if you are intimidated by sewing outerwear. The design includes a narrow double breast that sits nicely both buttoned and open. See more.
CORDOVA JACKET
A feminine fitted jacket that creates an instant hourglass figure! This great-fitting modern jacket is perfect for work, weekend or a special night out. Sizing is proportioned for a pear-shaped figure: smaller bust and waist, larger hips. See more.
LADY GREY
Short wrap coat with princess seams, perfect for between seasons. Has a very wide collar, 3/4 length sleeves that look wonderful with bracelets or long gloves, and fullness at the hem. Coat is fully lined. Closes with one internal and one external button, and includes wide self-fabric tie belt. See more.
WATSON JACKET
Double breasted fitted jacket with capelet, flat Peter Pan collar, back darts and one piece sleeve. Jacket is fully lined. Can be made as a sleeveless version.
Mid weight woven fabric. Could be made out of pretty much anything from a firm silk to a mid weight cotton, linen or wool. See more.
SCHOOL DAYS JACKET & COAT (UNISEX)
Heading off to school through inclement weather? This unisex, hooded jacket and coat pattern handles the elements as either a raincoat or a winter jacket. Pattern features patch pockets and choice of duffle closure details. Optional removable quilted lining can be made with or without sleeves for additional warmth.

MINORU JACKET
The Minoru Jacket is a zip-front weekend jacket with a secret hood hidden inside the wide collar! If you prefer, skip the hood and let the dramatic collar be the focus. Flattering raglan sleeves are comfortable and easy-to-sew, and the elastic waistline creates a slim, curve-hugging silhouette. See more.
ALBION (UNISEX)
Invest some time in Albion to create a classic duffle style coat (version 1) or jacket (version 2). Each version features toggle closures, tailored two-piece sleeves, yoke details, and a stylish three-piece hood. Albion is a versatile, simple shape that transitions easily from menswear to women’s wear. See more.
BELLATRIX BLAZER
A fully lined, long sleeved, fitted blazer with shawl collar and single button closure. Variation 1 has a long hemline and would dress up any outfit. Variation 2 has a cropped hemline which curves up at the back. Perfect for wearing over dresses! See more.
SECRET AGENT TRENCHCOAT (UNISEX)
Let's pretend we're going on a stakeout. This classic unlined trench coat pattern for boys and girls includes double-breasted button front, raglan sleeves, shoulder flap, button tabs at sleeves, and tie belt at waist. The unisex version (View A) has pockets, while the ultra-feminine alternate version (View B) features a dropped-waist skirt. See more.
