Making Jeans

  • The Stitchery 24 Sandyford Place Glasgow, G3 7NG United Kingdom (map)

8-week course // Thursdays, 6:30-9pm // Skill Level: Beyond Beginner // Cost: £240 // Instructor: Cassandra Macindoe // Pattern Options: Ginger Skinny Jeans, Ginger Flared Jeans, or Morgan Boyfriend Jeans

Make yourself a pair of jeans or two, and learn all about getting good fit.

Finding hi-street jeans that are good quality, well-fitting, and suit your style can be difficult at the best of times. So that's why we've decided to show you how to make your very own denims, as well as running you through the process of making them fit well.

Led by Cassandra Macindoe, this 8-week course will guide you through the steps of making an initial wearable toile, then using what is learned from this to adjust your paper pattern for better fit. The adjusted paper pattern, and the skills learned, can then be used to create as many well fitted pairs of jeans as you like. The course is designed to give you the time to make a second pair of jeans, depending on your own individual pace and whether you work on them at home.

We have 3 pattern options to choose from:

OPTION 2 Ginger Skinny Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

Ginger Skinny Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

OPTION 3 Ginger Flared Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

Ginger Flared Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

Morgan Boyfriend Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

  • A wearable toile
  • An adjusted pattern, and a set of skills, allowing you to go on and make multiple pairs of jeans that fit well
  • A well fitted pair of jeans - how far you get on this second, adjusted pair of jeans during class will depend on your own individual pace and whether or not you work on them at home.
  • A foundational set of skills that you can apply to other trouser patterns.
